The structure of Cloud Atlas Six stories are interconnected, each one covering a different period or type of composition. Each story is only partially informed, starting with Adam Ewing’s 1850 pacific travelogue, and moving on to Robert Frobisher’s 1930’s Europe period piece, Luisa REY’s 1973 action thriller, Timothy Cavendish’s ‘dreadful problem’ in 2000, and finally Somni’s sci-fi.-fi stry starting in 2144. and Zachary’s mysterious tale of island life from the future. These stories are written in fantastic prose that instills humor, terror, and as much fear as the story requires. The stories are arranged in reverse order once they reach the middle.
These tales all stand out in their own way and are quite well-written. However, they are not without their flaws. Pacing is the main problem. This part is haunting, and it will stay with me for a long time. That is what makes this great publication worth rereading time and time again. It gives you a broad view of humanity and how all the things we do add up to who we will be as individuals as well as as humanity. It has made me question my beliefs and challenged my notion of who I am. I’ve seen it five times since I bought it in 2012, and it never gets tired. book. This book will always be a part of my heart because it offers insight into human weaknesses and hopes for a better tomorrow.
